BIO

Kay Rodriques is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller working across creative nonfiction, artist’s books, painting, drawing, and printmaking. At the heart of Rodriques’s practice is a curiosity about how memory is made, how histories are constructed, and how contradictions become accepted as truth. Her artist’s books often pair images with irony, while her paintings place figures, landscapes, and fragments of narrative between presence and memory. Rodriques’ practice has been shaped by residencies and programs including Paper Book Intensive at Ox-Bow (Michigan, USA), Casa R.A.R.O. (Barcelona, Spain), Women’s Studio Workshop and UrbanGlass in New York, and the San Francisco Center for the Book. She is currently developing Magnitude, an expanding body of work that explores deportation, migration, belonging, and the lesser-known histories of Jamaica.
